Membership
CPWL memberships are offered to all those households or businesses whose taxable property abuts Waterman Lake, or whose taxable property enjoys access to Waterman Lake either through deed, easement, association membership or lease.
Waterman Lake was created in the mid-1800’s by building a dam about 5000’ long and 19’ high. Without that dam in place, there would just be a small river. There would be no lake, no swimming, no tubbing, or any other activities that we take for granted.
The success of CPWL depends upon the financial support and personal involvement of each and every member.
Thanks to our 2023 supporters!
Financial contributions are critical for the timely maintenance of the earthen dam, the spillway, the gatehouse, and other such aspects that create the pristine lake environment that is enjoyed by all. Annual membership dues are currently $175.00 and are due by the date of the Spring meeting.
People who have a boat moored on the lake, but do not reside on the lake are asked to buy a boat sticker for $100. This income is needed to keep the dam in a safe condition. Please help by purchasing a sticker if you have a boat on the lake.
Dues and charitable contributions may be mailed to: CPWL, PO Box 82, Harmony, RI 02829
CPWL is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. All financial contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.

Why Buy a Waterman Lake CPWL Boat Sticker?
- Waterman Lake is a private lake run by the non-for-profit Citizens for the Preservation of Waterman Lake (CPWL). All water quality testing, dam and gatehouse maintenance and emergency repairs are all paid for privately or by special donations. We are asking non-residents who use the lake with any boat or personal watercraft to buy the sticker annually.
- What improvements were successfully completed over the last year?
- A large section of the dam between Pine Ledge Road and West Greenville Road that had been suffering from significant erosion was successfully repaired in 2025.
- We treated the lake for cyanobacteria in 2024, returning it to full use in days rather than weeks and July 16th
- A weed survey was completed by Water in Water & Wetlands in 2024, helping us map areas that need attention.
- We have already treated for invasive weeds in 2025.
